Actually they love it when we can be charged to pay for there projects, and jobs for the democrat voters. This is how Oregon Works, tax the pleebs, fund the unions, reap the campaign support, get re-elected, rinse, repeat.

How is the state of Oregon going to enforce permits for all watercraft on all waterways? In 2022 the state required permits to use the Columbia River Highway. In order to enter, you had to show proof of payment to a government employee. After a year, they cancelled the program and brought it back just for key places such as Multnomah Falls. It works because there are key access points the government can use to enforce it.

In order it enforce it the state will have to create a huge bureaucracy to collect the fee and enforce it. People will be able to avoid the fee by not using the key areas where government employees will be stationed. Are they going to have government boats checking all watercraft? They canceled the permit for the Columbia River Highway.

I would assume they will offer little enforcement, this is just a grift to get people to pay to play. Many will comply, some will not, but no enforcement will occur. The lake that I frequent has dozens of paddleboard users that don't even have life jackets or whistles and I have never seen any enforcement of those requirements. What I would like to know if hypothetically I got a ticket for failure to have this permit, and paid the fine, would those funds go to enforcement or to the invasive species prevention. I may just prefer to pay fines to support increased enforcement of the water safety laws.

Why on earth would you pay more money for enforcement to give more resources to give tickets for the very "crime" you don't agree with? That's crazy.

I wish I had better words, but the truth is that I hate these sort of stupid taxes for causing me stupid headaches so i can get their stupid license....just so I can enjoy a nice little time in the outdoor...without hurting anyone...not causing any fake invasive species bull....just a little float down a lake or river....and they just want to tax me because they see I'm enjoying myself and think that that's a perfect opportunity to shake me down for some money, because they think I'll pay to keep my serenity.
