Cyrus Crosses Over: Trans-itioning From GOP to DNC
He didn’t “switch parties.” He just dropped the disguise and joined the circus of riots, DEI, and fiscal mismanagement.
Cyrus Javadi’s big announcement—“Had Enough? I Have.”—isn’t a revelation, it’s a confession. Let’s be clear: if you identify as a Democrat, support higher taxes, embrace new regulations, and reject the idea that government should stick to its core functions, then you’ve been masquerading as a Republican all along. Javadi didn’t suddenly switch teams—he’s been auditioning for the other side for months.
Jumping Ship—But Which Way Is the Tide Running?
Javadi claims Republicans are shrinking into irrelevance, but the facts tell another story. Voter registrations across Oregon show Democrats bleeding members at a faster rate than ever before, while Republicans are adding numbers and non-affiliated voters are waking up to failed progressive policies. Cyrus isn’t leaving a sinking ship—he’s leaping from a vessel building a bigger deck to join one that’s already capsizing.
The Party He’s Embracing
So what exactly is Javadi joining? Let’s remind ourselves what Oregon Democrats have delivered in recent years:
Riot-torn streets and pothole-riddled roads. Democrats can’t keep Portland safe, let alone Highway 6. They can bankroll addiction and “harm reduction” programs, but fixing roads or maintaining bridges? Too boring. Too practical.
Trans activist story hour for your grade-schooler. This is the “priority” Democrats defend while parents are told to sit down and stay quiet.
The DEI bureaucracy. Millions spent on diversity seminars, equity audits, and consultants while classrooms lack teachers and hospitals close maternity wards.
Lockdowns that wrecked small businesses. Democrats didn’t just close your church and your kid’s school; they celebrated it as “science.”
Shady campaign financing. Remember the La Mota scandal? Oregon’s Democratic governor and lawmakers were neck-deep in cash from a failed cannabis empire. How about Sam Bankman-Fried, the crypto con man who funneled money straight into Oregon Democratic races? Or the ODOT fiscal mismanagement fiasco, where transportation dollars vanish faster than your paycheck at the pump.
That’s the crew Javadi now wants to sail with.
A Rubber Stamp in Blue Ink
Javadi paints Republicans as “no” machines. But maybe—just maybe—saying no to bloated budgets, no to higher taxes, no to bigger bureaucracies is what real Republicans are supposed to do. That’s the job. Javadi didn’t like it because he preferred applause lines from editorial boards and pats on the back from lobbyists.
He wasn’t “independent.” He wasn’t “principled.” He was just waiting for the right moment to make official what he’s been doing all session long—voting with Democrats, talking like Democrats, governing like Democrats.
Slamming the Door
So let’s thank Cyrus for his honesty at last. He says his “values haven’t changed.” We agree. That’s the problem. He never voted like a Republican because deep down, he never was one.
If he wants to join the party of riots, regulations, and reckless spending, let him. But let’s not romanticize it. Javadi isn’t bravely switching jerseys—he’s finally taking off the mask.
And as he walks out, Republicans should do him a favor: slam the door behind him so hard it rattles the windows. Because Oregon doesn’t need more fair-weather politicians looking for applause; it needs fighters willing to say “no” when “no” is the only sane answer.
Now the question is, who can run in the 2026 primary, and win in the general?

An excellent appraisal of Javadi. He has been a shill all along but most did not see it until his vote on the tax hikes. None of this would be a surprise to anyone who knew who has campaign staff was. The real shame is the Republican Party policy, as written to me by the current chair, of protecting people like him in the bizarre expectation that by simply having enough people who call themselves Republicans the caucus would somehow become more conservative. It's a disgrace that he wasn't booted long ago.
It looks like he changed his jersey after scoring for the other team. He's another shallow liberal who fits right in with those that like to think of themselves as "citizens of the world." Glib and pretentious.
